The Perfect Wedding / O Casamento Perfeito

Lilly had dreamed about her wedding day since she was a little girl.  As a child, she would frequently decorate her bedroom with pink ribbons and pretend to marry Mr. Diggle, her favorite teddy bear. Now, at the age of 28, she was finding it hard to believe that she was about to actually get married. Throughout her adolescence and adult life, Lilly had had a considerable number of disastrous relationships. However, even though some of them had hurt her, she knew that each one taught her something important about love, partnership and respect. She felt like all her experiences had led her to that specific moment. She had finally found the one and in her heart, she could only feel joy and excitement. The last couple of months had been very stressful. Who would think that planning a wedding would be so hard? So many little things to decide! However, being about to walk down the aisle with her dad by her side, she knew it had all been worth it.
Good Lord, in a couple of seconds she would be a married woman! This was crazy! She felt butterflies in her stomach. She heard the music start playing and watched her bridesmaids enter the ballroom. Lilly was the last one of her best friends to tie the knot. She had been a bridesmaid three times already! None of her best friends had a traditional wedding. Laura, the first one to take vows, had had one of those thematic weddings. Star Wars, can you believe it? She was dressed as princess Leia and the groom was wearing a Jedi costume. Even the cake was in the format of a Death Star. It had been very fun, but it was too unconventional for Lilly. At least it was better than Biancas wedding, the second one of the group to get marry. She and her - at the time - fiancé were a little short on money, so they preferred to use their savings for a trip to Europe. The ceremony had been at the courthouse, only in the presence of a few family members and close friends. Lilly understood her choice, but... your wedding day should be an exciting and special day, you know?  Her last friend to marry, before her, was Sheila. Sheila had set the date of the reception, but it all proved to be too stressful for her. Two months before the ceremony, she and her boyfriend, James, decided to elope. She called some friends and they went to Vegas to watch Sheila and James have their wedding officialized by a fake Elvis in some chapel.
Lilly frowned her forehead. She could never do what her friends did. She had always wanted a very traditional wedding. Thank God Jamie didnt care much about how they would tie the knot, so she had been free to do everything her way. The ceremony was being held at the ballroom of the same hotel her mother and her sister had married. Lilly was wearing a classic bridal gown and a veil. She also had in her hair her great grandmothers hairpin, a piece of family treasure, which was tonight her something old, something borrowed, and something blue. After the ceremony, she and Jamie would leave the hotel under a shower of rice and go to their airport in a car hung with tin cans and a sign saying just married.
The wedding march started playing and the doors were open. Lilly took a deep breath and then took a step in the ballroom. All eyes were focused on her. Many guests had smiles on their faces, some of them were even crying, but there was only one person who mattered to Lilly. Jamie. She was standing in the altar, with her shining eyes fixed on Lilly. She smiled as if Christmas had come early. She looked beautiful, even though she was wearing an embroidered jacket with tailored trousers instead of a white dress like Lilly wanted her too. She claimed that she hated dresses Well, I guess some traditions are OK to break.

O Casamento Perfeito

Ela sentia borboletas no estômago.

Lilian franziu a sobrancelha.

Lilian respirou fundo e adentrou o salão.
